About the position

The Director of Software Engineering 1 at Northrop Grumman will lead the Strategic Deterrent Systems Division Software team, overseeing software development processes and providing technical expertise across various programs. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of software architecture, Agile methodology, and program management, with a focus on collaboration and strategic planning. The position is critical in interfacing with multiple stakeholders, including executive management, to ensure alignment with program goals and effective execution of software initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the software requirements, architecture, and system design for the Strategic Deterrent Systems Division.
  • Establish and maintain the Software Community of Practice (COP) to leverage industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with program management and leadership to define and execute the software statement of work in alignment with customer requirements.
  • Oversee the end-to-end software development process, ensuring effective communication with all enterprise functions.
  • Develop long-range plans and strategies to allocate resources effectively based on skillsets.
  • Hire and develop a diverse team, fostering a culture of mentorship and leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical or business-related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of related experience in software engineering or management.
  • 5 years of experience in a formal management/lead position.
  • 3+ years of experience leading technical and complex program efforts.
  • Experience in developing and administering budgets and performance standards.
  • U.S. Citizenship with an Active Secret Clearance.

  • Familiarity with Northrop Grumman project execution processes.
  • Knowledge of IFC and Agile software development in a classified environment.
