About the position

The Director of Software Engineering 1 at Northrop Grumman is responsible for leading the Strategic Deterrent Systems Division Software team, overseeing all software development processes across various programs. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of software architecture, Agile methodologies, and program management, while also fostering collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. The position emphasizes leadership, strategic planning, and the ability to influence executive management, ensuring alignment with the division's software strategy and effective execution of the software statement of work.

Responsibilities

  • Build and lead software processes and tools across all programs.
  • Provide leadership and technical expertise in all phases of software development.
  • Define and enable execution of the Software statement of work in alignment with customer SOW.
  • Lead a team responsible for software requirements, architecture, system design, and testing.
  • Establish Software Community of Practice leveraging industry knowledge.
  • Collaborate with program leadership to align with division software strategy.
  • Oversee end-to-end software development and maintain communication with all enterprise functions.
  • Develop long-range plans and strategies for effective resource allocation.
  • Outline objectives and processes for innovative solutions to complex business problems.
  • Hire and develop a diverse team, fostering a mentorship and coaching culture.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical or business-related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of related experience.
  • 5 years' experience in a formal management/lead position.
  • 3+ years of management experience leading technical and complex program efforts.
  • Experience in developing and administering budgets and performance standards.
  • Experience in developing and implementing production process technologies with sustainable implementation.
  • U.S. Citizenship with an Active Secret Clearance.

  • Familiarity with Northrop Grumman project execution processes.
  • Knowledge and experience with IFC and Agile software development in a classified environment.
