About the position

The Director of Software Engineering at Pebble will play a pivotal role in transforming the RV industry by leading the development of embedded software for a 100% electric RV. This position involves overseeing the entire software development lifecycle, ensuring the reliability and scalability of embedded systems, and driving innovation in software architecture. Responsibilities

• Lead and scale a small but growing team of software engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.
• Oversee the entire embedded software development lifecycle, from architecture design to implementation, testing, and deployment.
• Drive the maturation and innovation of our embedded software architecture, ensuring it meets the needs of our next-generation electric RVs.
• Collaborate closely with hardware engineering teams to integrate software with hardware components, ensuring seamless operation of our systems.
• Lead the development of diagnostics, algorithms, and system monitoring features to enhance the performance and reliability of our products.
• Navigate production challenges and ensure that our software systems are robust and ready for mass deployment.

Requirements

• Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in embedded software development, with a strong track record of releasing products into the hands of customers.
• Extensive experience in the automotive, electric vehicle, or aerospace industry, particularly in developing and deploying embedded software systems.
• Proven experience in shipping products, preferably from innovative startups.
• Strong leadership skills with a hands-on approach, capable of building trust and guiding teams through complex software development challenges.
• Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS), software for safety-critical systems, and embedded C/C++.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-moving startup environment, with a passion for innovation and sustainable living.
