About the position

The Director of Software Engineering for Identity and Access Management at Capital One is a leadership role focused on driving innovative technology solutions and fostering a culture of engineering excellence. This position involves overseeing a team of developers, managing complex vendor relationships, and collaborating across various business lines to enhance the identity lifecycle management initiatives. The director will leverage their expertise in software engineering and IAM to influence technical partners and stakeholders, ensuring alignment with the company's strategic goals.

Responsibilities

• Lead innovative identity lifecycle management initiatives and a team of developers with deep experience in Identity and Access Management (IAM).
• Work with Product partners to deliver robust solutions that drive automated capabilities supporting Cyber and IAM.
• Design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions for the identity platform and other technologies within Agile teams.
• Manage complex vendor relationships and ensure well-managed integration of vendor platforms into the Capital One ecosystem.
• Develop and leverage trusted relationships across Architecture, Design, and other Technology leaders to ensure strategic alignment across key Cyber initiatives.
• Utilize programming languages like Java, Python, SQL, and Container Orchestration services including Docker and Kubernetes.
• Encourage innovation, implementation of cutting-edge technologies, and foster a culture of teamwork and diversity.
• Coach and mentor engineers through their career development and performance.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree.
• At least 7 years of experience in software engineering.
• At least 5 years of experience in identity and access management.
• At least 5 years of people leadership experience.
• At least 4 years of public cloud experience (Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform).

Nice-to-haves

• Master's Degree.
• 10+ years of experience in identity and access management.
• 7+ years of experience with coding in one or more of the following languages: Python, SQL, Java, JavaScript, Golang, Bash, Perl, Ruby.
• 4+ years of experience in infrastructure design, implementation, and delivery.
• 3+ years of experience with monitoring tools.
• 3+ years of experience working with Agile Development Practices.
• 1+ years of experience with automation tools.
