About the position

The Director of Software Engineering for Identity and Access Management at Capital One is a leadership role focused on driving innovative technology solutions and fostering a culture of engineering excellence. This position involves overseeing a team of developers, managing complex vendor relationships, and collaborating across various business lines to enhance identity lifecycle management and improve user experience. The director will also be responsible for shaping the technical strategy and multi-year roadmap for the identity platform, ensuring alignment with key Cyber initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Lead innovative identity lifecycle management initiatives and a team of developers in Identity and Access Management (IAM).
• Work with Product partners to deliver robust solutions that drive automated capabilities supporting Cyber and IAM.
• Design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions for the identity platform and other technologies within Agile teams.
• Manage complex vendor relationships and ensure integration of vendor platforms into the Capital One ecosystem.
• Develop trusted relationships across Architecture, Design, and other Technology leaders to ensure strategic alignment across key Cyber initiatives.
• Utilize programming languages and tools such as Java, Python, SQL, Docker, Kubernetes, Ansible, Terraform, and AWS services.
• Encourage innovation, implementation of cutting-edge technologies, and promote diversity and teamwork.
• Coach and mentor engineers in their career development and performance.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree.
• At least 7 years of experience in software engineering.
• At least 5 years of experience in identity and access management.
• At least 5 years of people leadership experience.
• At least 4 years of public cloud experience (AWS, Azure, GCP).

Nice-to-haves

• Master's Degree.
• 10+ years of experience in identity and access management.
• 7+ years of experience with coding in languages such as Python, SQL, Java, JavaScript, Golang, Bash, Perl, Ruby.
• 4+ years of experience in infrastructure design, implementation, and delivery.
• 3+ years of experience with monitoring tools.
• 3+ years of experience working with Agile Development Practices.
• 1+ years of experience with automation tools.
