We are seeking a Director of Software Engineering who is passionate about growing and sustaining an innovative technology organization while fostering a culture of engineering and operational excellence. The Director of Software Engineering will be part of Identity and Access Management. In this role, you will focus on our technical strategy, multi-year roadmap, and collaboration across all lines of business. Your expertise in software engineering and knowledge of Identity and Access Management will position you to influence peer technical partners and business stakeholders. In this position, you will lead innovative identity lifecycle management initiatives and a team of developers with deep experience in Identity and Access Management (IAM) to create solutions that help meet regulatory needs for the company and improve the user experience for our workforce. You will work with Product partners to deliver robust solutions that drive automated capabilities supporting Cyber and IAM. Additionally, you will work within and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions for the identity platform as well as other technologies. You will also lead complex vendor relationships and ensure well-managed integration of vendor platforms into our broader Capital One ecosystem. Your role will require you to develop and leverage trusted relationships across Architecture, Design, and other Technology leaders to ensure strategic alignment across key Cyber initiatives. You will utilize programming languages like Java, Python, SQL, and Container Orchestration services including Docker and Kubernetes, along with CM tools including Ansible and Terraform, and a variety of AWS tools and services. A passion for staying on top of tech trends, experimenting with and learning new technologies, and participating in internal & external technology communities is essential. You will encourage innovation, implementation of cutting-edge technologies, inclusion, outside-of-the-box thinking, teamwork, self-organization, and diversity. Furthermore, you will coach and mentor engineers through their career development and performance.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • At least 7 years of experience in software engineering.
  • At least 5 years of experience in identity and access management.
  • At least 5 years of people leadership experience.
  • At least 4 years of public cloud experience (Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform).

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree.
  • 10+ years of experience in identity and access management.
  • 7+ years of experience with coding in one or more of the following languages: Python, SQL, Java, JavaScript, Golang, Bash, Perl, Ruby.
  • 4+ years of experience in infrastructure design, implementation, and delivery.
  • 3+ years of experience with monitoring tools.
  • 3+ years of experience working with Agile Development Practices.
  • 1+ years of experience with automation tools.
