About the position

As a Director of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase within the Corporate and Investment Bank Payments Technology Team, you will lead a technical area and drive impact within teams, technologies, and projects across departments. This role requires you to utilize your in-depth knowledge of software, applications, technical processes, and product management to drive multiple complex projects and initiatives. You will serve as a primary decision maker for your teams and be a driver of innovation and solution delivery. In this position, you will lead technology and process implementations to achieve functional technology objectives. You will make decisions that influence teams' resources, budget, tactical operations, and the execution and implementation of processes and procedures. You will carry governance accountability for coding decisions, control obligations, and measures of success such as cost of ownership, maintainability, and portfolio operations. Your role will involve delivering technical solutions that can be leveraged across multiple businesses and domains, while also influencing peer leaders and senior stakeholders across the business, product, and technology teams. As a champion of the firm's culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect, you will manage agile software delivery teams and partner with Product partners to drive all aspects of technology delivery. You will deliver solutions leveraging modern technologies including cloud-backed APIs and microservices, utilizing distributed database technologies. Acting as the primary interface with senior leaders and executives, you will drive consensus across competing objectives while managing multiple stakeholders, complex projects, and large cross-product collaborations.

Responsibilities

  • Leads technology and process implementations to achieve functional technology objectives.

  • Acts as the primary interface with senior leaders and executives, driving consensus across competing objectives while managing multiple stakeholders, complex projects, and large cross-product collaborations.

Requirements

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 10 years applied experience.
  • 5 years of experience leading technologists to manage, anticipate and solve complex technical items within your domain of expertise.
  • Experience developing or leading cross-functional teams of technologists.
  • Experience with hiring, developing, and recognizing talent.
  • Experience leading a product as a Product Owner or Product Manager.
  • Practical cloud native experience.
  • Expertise in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field.
  • Hands-on expertise in Java stack (spring boot, micro services, API, Kafka, Cockroach DB/Cassandra/Oracle) building and operating large-scale, high-performance environments with distributed systems and cloud technologies.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in teams and develop meaningful relationships to achieve common goals.
  • Experience with developing and managing large scale platforms with strong understanding of complex distributed systems running on hybrid infrastructure (on premises, private and private cloud environments).
  • Experience with implementing industry standard cybersecurity & technology controls.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to present to and communicate effectively with key stakeholders across product, technology, data and design.
