About the position

Paysafe is seeking a Director of Software Engineering to join the US Acquiring team as part of the Global Payment Processing unit. This role is based in Jacksonville, Florida, and offers a flexible hybrid work environment, allowing for three in-office days and two remote working days each week. The US Acquiring team is responsible for platforms that include merchant onboarding, customer portals, back office operations, and multiple customer APIs and backend services. This team plays a crucial role in building the product suite capabilities used by over 100,000 customers and enhancing connections to backend payment processors, gateways, vendors, and APIs for all US Payments Platforms. As a leader in Software Engineering, you will report directly to the Vice President of Technology and will oversee multiple teams of software development managers and engineers. Your primary responsibility will be to deliver high-powered US Payments Processing platforms. You will collaborate closely with Product Owners, Project Managers, vendors, and business stakeholders to architect and create enterprise-level technology solutions that are both scalable and robust. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, full-stack technical knowledge, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced agile environment. Your responsibilities will include recruiting, motivating, mentoring, and leading top software engineering talent, developing a deep understanding of customer needs and market dynamics, and defining and reviewing the product roadmap and strategy. You will also manage a change management process that ensures consistent coordination and stakeholder acceptance throughout the enterprise. Championing Agile and DevOps methodologies to improve operational processes and increase team velocity will be a key focus. Additionally, you will lead application development and support vendor identification, evaluation, and selection to ensure project delivery meets quality and budgetary goals. You will be accountable for the overall project/program delivery of your development teams and vendors, ensuring successful execution and delivery of projects that meet scope, timing, and cost goals. Effective communication and collaboration with brand teams, officers, external contacts, and internal departments will be essential to perform your responsibilities effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, motivate, mentor, and lead the best software engineering talent.
  • Develop a deep understanding of customer needs and market dynamics to create compelling propositions and set the path forward to market-winning products.
  • Define and review product roadmap and strategy.
  • Develop and manage a change management process that delivers consistent cadence coordination and stakeholder acceptance throughout the enterprise.
  • Champion Agile and DevOps as a means to improve operational processes and increase team velocity.
  • Lead application development and support vendor identification, evaluation, and selection to staff project delivery roles that meet delivery standards across quality and budgetary return-on-investment goals.
  • Directly build, manage, and lead engineering teams focused on delivering world-class ecommerce solutions with a focus on driving revenue and differentiation.
  • Empower the engineering team to deliver consistently with high quality.
  • Own direct accountability for overall project/program delivery of your development teams and vendors, ensuring successful execution and delivery of projects that meet scope, timing, and cost goals.
  • Successfully communicate and work collaboratively with brand teams, officers, external contacts, and internal departments to perform responsibilities.
  • Build, execute, and maintain a customer-centric solutions strategy.

Requirements

  • 12+ years in a similar role within the payments and fintech industry.
  • 7+ years of leadership experience leading direct reports with agile software development.
  • Bachelor's degree in systems engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field of study.
  • Experience in Payments product delivery is highly desirable.
  • Experience in building cloud-native solutions in Azure/AWS.
  • Technical acumen to help engineers solve problems and design solutions.
  • A track record for leading high-performing engineering teams.
  • Experience helping engineers grow individually and as a team by leading by example, aligning focus, and executing on commitments.
  • Understanding of the competitive environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines set both internally and externally.
  • Ability to adapt to an entrepreneurial culture with a matrix reporting structure.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
