About the position

As a Director of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer and Community Banking group, you will take the lead in a technical area, driving significant impact across teams, technologies, and projects that span multiple departments. This role requires you to leverage your extensive knowledge of software, applications, technical processes, and product management to oversee and guide multiple complex projects and initiatives. You will serve as the primary decision-maker for your teams, championing innovation and ensuring the successful delivery of solutions that meet the needs of the business. In this position, you will be responsible for leading technology and process implementations that align with functional technology objectives. Your decisions will have a direct influence on team resources, budget allocations, tactical operations, and the execution of processes and procedures. You will also drive modernization efforts across various technology platforms, including call centers, branches, and back-office systems. Governance accountability will be a key aspect of your role, as you will oversee coding decisions, control obligations, and measures of success such as cost of ownership, maintainability, and portfolio operations. Your ability to deliver technical solutions that can be utilized across multiple business domains will be crucial. You will work closely with peer leaders and senior stakeholders across business, product, and technology teams, influencing their strategies and decisions. Responsibilities

  • Leads technology and process implementations to achieve functional technology objectives
  • Makes decisions that influence teams' resources, budget, tactical operations, and the execution and implementation of processes and procedures
  • Drives modernization efforts across call center, branch, and back office technology
  • Carries governance accountability for coding decisions, control obligations, and measures of success such as cost of ownership, maintainability, and portfolio operations
  • Delivers technical solutions that can be leveraged across multiple businesses and domains
  • Influences peer leaders and senior stakeholders across the business, product, and technology teams
  • Champions the firm's culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect

Requirements

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 10+ years applied experience
  • Experience developing or leading cross-functional teams of technologists across multiple locations
  • Experience with hiring, developing, and recognizing talent
  • Experience leading technology delivery efforts at scale managing multiple technology teams
  • Practical cloud native experience in Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Expertise in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field
