About the position

As a Director of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer and Community Banking group, you will lead a technical area and drive significant impact across teams, technologies, and projects within the organization. This role requires you to utilize your extensive knowledge of software, applications, technical processes, and product management to oversee multiple complex projects and initiatives. You will serve as a primary decision maker for your teams, ensuring that innovation and solution delivery are at the forefront of your efforts. In this position, you will be responsible for leading technology and process implementations that align with functional technology objectives. Your decisions will influence the allocation of resources, budget management, tactical operations, and the execution of processes and procedures. You will also drive modernization efforts across various technology platforms, including call centers, branches, and back office systems. Governance accountability for coding decisions, control obligations, and measures of success such as cost of ownership, maintainability, and portfolio operations will be a key aspect of your role. You will deliver technical solutions that can be leveraged across multiple businesses and domains, influencing peer leaders and senior stakeholders across the business, product, and technology teams. Additionally, you will champion the firm's culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect, ensuring that these values are integrated into all aspects of your leadership and team dynamics.

Responsibilities

  • Leads technology and process implementations to achieve functional technology objectives
  • Makes decisions that influence teams' resources, budget, tactical operations, and the execution and implementation of processes and procedures
  • Drives modernization efforts across call center, branch, and back office technology
  • Carries governance accountability for coding decisions, control obligations, and measures of success such as cost of ownership, maintainability, and portfolio operations
  • Delivers technical solutions that can be leveraged across multiple businesses and domains

Requirements

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 10+ years applied experience
  • Experience developing or leading cross-functional teams of technologists across multiple locations
  • Experience with hiring, developing, and recognizing talent
  • Experience leading technology delivery efforts at scale managing multiple technology teams
  • Practical cloud native experience in Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Expertise in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field
