About the position

As a Director of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase, you will play a pivotal role in the Enterprise Technology, Collaboration and Communication team. This position is designed for a seasoned professional who is ready to leverage their extensive experience in software engineering to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products. You will be an integral part of an agile team, providing expertise and engineering excellence to ensure that our technology solutions are secure, stable, and scalable. Your advanced technical capabilities will be essential as you collaborate with colleagues across the organization to drive best-in-class outcomes across various technologies that support one or more of the firm's portfolios. In this role, you will be responsible for creating complex and scalable coding frameworks using appropriate software design frameworks. You will develop secure and high-quality production code, while also reviewing and debugging code written by others. As the go-to subject matter expert, you will advise cross-functional teams on technological matters within your domain of expertise. Your contributions will extend to the development of technical methods in specialized fields, aligning with the latest product development methodologies. You will also create durable, reusable software frameworks that can be leveraged across teams and functions, influencing leaders and senior stakeholders across business, product, and technology teams. Additionally, you will champion the firm's culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect, ensuring that these values are embedded in all aspects of your work.

Responsibilities

  • Creates complex and scalable coding frameworks using appropriate software design frameworks
  • Develops secure and high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
  • Advises cross-functional teams on technological matters within your domain of expertise
  • Serves as the function's go-to subject matter expert
  • Contributes to the development of technical methods in specialized fields in line with the latest product development methodologies
  • Creates durable, reusable software frameworks that are leveraged across teams and functions
  • Influences leaders and senior stakeholders across business, product, and technology teams
  • Champions the firm's culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect

Requirements

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 10+ years applied experience
  • 5+ years of experience leading technologists to manage, anticipate and solve complex technical items within your domain of expertise
  • Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
  • Expert in one or more programming language(s)
  • Advanced knowledge of software application development and technical processes with considerable in-depth knowledge in one or more technical disciplines (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)
  • Experience applying expertise and new methods to determine solutions for complex technology problems in one or more technical disciplines
  • Experience leading a product as a Product Owner or Product Manager
  • Ability to present and effectively communicate with Senior Leaders and Executives
