About the position

As the Director of Software Engineering at Fiserv, you will play a pivotal role in leading the success of our internal application portfolio within the Fiserv Card Services, Financial Institution Group. This position requires a strategic leader who can effectively manage and inspire a team of software engineers while ensuring the delivery of high-quality software solutions in a fast-paced Agile environment. You will oversee critical processes such as billing and invoicing, risk management, dispute lifecycle management, and the automation of onboarding new clients. Your leadership will be essential in driving end-to-end software delivery and ensuring that operational requirements are integrated into all new features. In this role, you will partner with business owners to define platform roadmaps and scope for various initiatives and features. You will be responsible for prioritizing technical investments on in-scope platforms and designing efficient, effective, and reusable technical solutions. Your thought leadership will guide acquiring engineers, and you will collaborate closely with DevOps, production support, and peer platform teams to ensure seamless integration and operation of our systems. Monitoring, triaging, and mitigating issues in our integration, staging, and production environments will also be a key part of your responsibilities, ensuring that our applications run smoothly and meet critical operational requirements. To succeed in this role, you will need a strong background in software engineering leadership, with extensive experience in delivering and implementing large-scale applications. You will be expected to leverage your technical expertise and leadership skills to mentor and inspire your team, driving innovation and excellence in software development at Fiserv.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with business owners to define platform roadmaps and scope for initiatives and features
  • Drive prioritization of technical investment on in-scope platforms
  • Design performant, efficient, effective, and reusable technical solutions
  • Provide thought leadership across acquiring engineers
  • Partner effectively with DevOps, production support, and peer platform teams
  • Monitor, triage, and mitigate issues in our integration, stage, and production environments
  • Ensure critical operational requirements are designed into all new features

Requirements

  • 12-15 years of experience as a software engineering leader with a focus on delivery, implementation, and adoption
  • 5+ years of recent experience leading teams and hands-on experience with large scale applications at large institutions using technologies like Java, J2EE, Spring, Spring Boot, Spark, and cloud technologies (Azure, AWS)
  • 5+ years of experience with event-based architecture, leading strategy, governance, and execution at large institutions
  • 5+ years of experience with Kafka, Azure Event Hub, Azure Blob Storage, Stream Analytics, Java Netty & Socket programming, producing & consuming REST APIs
  • 5+ years of experience using one or more relational & non-relational NoSQL databases (Oracle, SQL Server, Cosmos DB, MongoDB, Cassandra, Redis)
  • 5+ years of experience with application security, encryption, automation, deployment, and post-deployment support for owned applications
  • 5+ years of practical experience with the end-to-end DevOps CI/CD pipeline including Azure DevOps, Jenkins, Maven, Gitlab, SonarQube
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, work, and/or military experience
