About the position

The Director of Sterile Processing at St. David's South Austin Medical Center is responsible for overseeing the operations of the Central Sterile Processing department and ensuring compliance with AAMI and AORN standards. This role involves managing the collection, distribution, and analysis of departmental data, maintaining relationships with surgical services staff, and ensuring the timely replenishment of supplies and equipment. The Director acts as a liaison between the surgical department and vendors, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee the operations of Central Sterile Processing and Surgical Services Sterile Processing.
  • Ensure accurate collection, management, distribution, and analysis of departmental data.
  • Oversee proper procedures for decontamination, sterilization, and storage of supplies and equipment.
  • Monitor and schedule preventative maintenance of equipment according to established parameters.
  • Ensure compliance with AAMI and AORN standards in sterile processing operations.
  • Maintain positive relationships with Surgical Services staff and facilitate their needs.
  • Coordinate data management, preference cards, and patient billing.
  • Complete departmental bi-weekly payroll and ensure adequate staffing at all times.
  • Negotiate the best pricing for all capital purchases and maintain vendor relations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Biology, Business, or Nursing.
  • 3+ years of management experience in an acute care hospital.
  • Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state(s) of practice or has an active compact license.
  • BLS certification required within 30 days of hire.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Meditech and general computer skills.
  • Knowledge of CPT codes and charge/revenue processes.
