About the position

The Director of Strategic Accounts is responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with existing clients while driving revenue growth through the sale of AFS solutions to both qualified prospects and current clients. This role emphasizes outstanding client support, meeting sales targets, and client retention, all while upholding the company's core values of Ethics, Engagement, and Excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a list of current AFS clients and prospect for upsell opportunities.
  • Prospect and sell multimodal/multiservice opportunities within the assigned region.
  • Ensure client retention by managing the AFS customer experience in coordination with the Account Management team.
  • Conduct structured periodic business reviews to demonstrate AFS's benefits to clients and explore additional opportunities.
  • Understand all of AFS's transportation modes and value propositions to clients.
  • Generate leads through cold-calling, referrals, networking events, and marketing follow-ups.
  • Act as the client's advocate during solution development, working with operations and pricing groups.
  • Build cross-functional relationships with key influencers in each account.

Requirements

  • Solid sales, account management, and transportation knowledge.
  • Consultative sales training or experience.
  • Ability to deliver effective communications and obtain client commitment.
  • Strong network of contacts in the transportation industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain relationships with C-level decision makers.
  • Willingness to prospect for new business with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to build rapport with diverse groups.
  • Highly motivated and self-driven with a persuasive personality.
  • Superior decision-making, problem-solving, negotiation, verbal, and written skills.
  • Proficient in Salesforce, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in business, management, or related field preferred or equivalent work experience.
  • 5 years or more of transportation experience in multiple modes.
  • Minimum of 3 years business development experience with third-party or contract logistics.
