About the position

The Director of Strategic Marketing and Communications at UC San Diego's Rady School of Management is responsible for leading and managing all marketing and communications functions. This role involves overseeing a team of six direct reports and collaborating with internal clients to create and execute strategic marketing plans aimed at promoting the Rady School's graduate programs and enhancing its global reputation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all marketing and communications functions for the Rady School of Management.
  • Supervise a team of six direct reports including an Art Director, Social Media Coordinator, Communications Writer, Web Designer, Videographer, and Production Coordinator.
  • Develop and implement a strategic, goal-based, data-driven marketing and communications plan.
  • Oversee market research findings and lead generation efforts to enhance the Rady School's reputation.
  • Direct the content and messaging of all communications, including the Rady website and social media.
  • Collaborate with internal clients to promote faculty research and manage external marketing agency relationships.
  • Advise on promotional and sales messaging strategies to drive admissions and enrollments.

Requirements

  • Proven skills in developing and implementing comprehensive communications strategies.
  • Experience in devising marketing and sales strategies based on market analysis.
  • Strong background in brand identity development and implementation.
  • Experience with new technologies for program promotion and sales goals.
  • Hands-on supervisory experience in a marketing and communications environment.
  • Strong analytical skills, including experience with Google Analytics.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience collaborating with university admissions departments.
  • Graduate degree in marketing, business, or related field.
  • Ten or more years of marketing and communications experience across various business disciplines.
