About the position

The Director of Strategic Sourcing & Procurement at Legend Biotech will lead the development and management of the Strategic Sourcing & Procurement process, focusing on Direct, Indirect, and CAPEX sourcing. This role is crucial for supporting the Pipeline R&D and Corporate functions in both the US and EU regions. The director will negotiate contracts, manage supplier relationships, and ensure alignment with strategic sourcing category strategies while collaborating with various internal teams to meet technical and cost targets.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement sourcing category strategies that align with functional goals for R&D, Technical Development, IT, and corporate services.
• Establish ongoing relationships with senior stakeholders to ensure Strategic Sourcing activities support functional strategies.
• Drive maturity of category management capabilities and support procurement function transformation.
• Challenge traditional spending behavior and service level definitions to improve productivity and efficiency.
• Maintain knowledge of supply market dynamics and effective KPIs to monitor performance.
• Lead spend analytics and category governance efforts to generate sourcing insights.
• Manage strategic competitive events and commercial agreements, ensuring best practices in business case development and contract negotiation.
• Define and implement guided buying concepts and procurement channels to realize sourcing strategies.
• Ensure sourcing practices comply with corporate ethics and financial policies.
• Pursue ongoing skill development in strategic sourcing and project management.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business/Engineering, or related field or equivalent work experience required.
• A minimum of 10 years working within Supply Chain / Supply Planning / Procurement.
• Extensive experience in a similar position within a cGMP environment in the biotech/biopharma industry.
• Demonstrated experience in building and operating core Procurement SAP functions (e.g. APO/D2D/MRP).
• Ability to build effective teams and drive organizational change.
• Experience managing in a growth environment with fast-paced changes.
• In-depth understanding of S&OP, production planning, and materials management processes.
• Ability to build partnerships and integrate with external collaborators in a matrixed environment.
• Experience with Sourcing & Procurement tools and strong financial analysis skills.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Knowledge of cGMP regulations and FDA guidance for cell-based products.
• Promote continuous improvement and problem-solving mindsets.
