About the position
The Director of Strategic Sourcing at Aither Systems is responsible for negotiating favorable terms and managing supplier contracts to ensure cost savings and risk management. This role involves overseeing the procurement of technical and manufacturing equipment, understanding market trends, and maintaining supplier relationships. The position also includes managing the Sourcing and Supply Chain team and ensuring alignment with quality management systems.
Responsibilities
- Negotiate favorable terms, volume discounts, and long-term contracts with suppliers.
- Prepare and process requisitions and purchase orders for procurement.
- Drive the Strategic Commodity Analysis, Planning, and Execution process.
- Establish and update goals and reporting to support cost savings targets.
- Manage supplier contracts to obtain cost savings and manage risk.
- Oversee daily operational Purchasing functions to support production and sales.
- Work with Global Quality to support the Quality Management System.
- Participate in Integrated Business Process & Planning and capital planning.
- Engage in Product Rationalization & Obsolescence processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Materials Management, Supply Chain Management, or related field; MBA preferred.
- 8 years progressive experience in Strategic and Commodity Sourcing, including 10 years in a purchasing and/or manufacturing role.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage projects and adapt to changing priorities.
- Detailed oriented with strong organization skills.
- Proactive and results-oriented with a focus on supplier relationships.
Nice-to-haves
- APICS certification
- Project Management experience
- Lean Six Sigma experience
- Familiarity with JD Edwards ERP system
- Working knowledge of Supplier contract language and legal warranty.
