About the position

The Director of Strategy and Project Management serves as a key leader of marketing and communications strategy for the Geisel School of Medicine and the Medical and Healthcare Advancement office. This position is dedicated to bringing strategic focus, cohesion, and coordination to our shared work, enabling the wider team to execute best-of-industry communications and marketing strategies in the smartest, most efficient manner. The Director leads the implementation of communications strategy, project management, and client relationships spanning the school and the advancement office, bringing strategic focus, direction, and results to a wide range of marketing and communications needs across a diversity of audiences. The Director brings strong leadership skills and an ability to both motivate and track progress across numerous projects, deliverables, and timelines to deliver the best possible solution to organizational needs on time, on budget, and of the highest quality. This role requires exceptional project management ability, including the ability to track against competing priorities amid constrained resources. The Director will also be responsible for driving organizational transformation, focusing on relationships and partnerships, and will serve as an ambassador of the school and the advancement office as needed. In addition, the Director will work with leadership to develop an integrated communications strategy for a range of audiences, with a focus on reinforcing core business objectives driving enrollment, philanthropic support, engagement, and recruitment. This includes managing relationships with offices, departments, colleagues, partners, and clients across the school, the advancement office, and the broader community supporting the conceptualization, planning, execution, and evaluation of a range of marketing and communications initiatives, campaigns, and collateral.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement an integrated communications strategy for various audiences.
  • Lead the intake, ideation, and implementation of communications and marketing projects.
  • Manage project timelines and milestones, marshal resources, and track progress to completion for various projects.
  • Conduct post-delivery assessments of marketing and communications campaigns.
  • Manage prioritization and distribution of work across organizational units/clients, and develop reporting mechanisms for institutional leadership.
  • Partner with institutional leadership to identify key communications goals and objectives, and develop strategies that address organizational needs.
  • Develop and lead a comprehensive project management paradigm with oversight from high-level strategy to tactical implementation.
  • Manage relationships with offices, departments, colleagues, partners, and clients to support marketing and communications initiatives.
  • Lead audience/message segmentation, targeting, and retargeting to deliver the right message to the right audience at the right moment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • 10-15 years of leadership experience managing diverse teams across complex initiatives.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with exceptional ability to manage, influence, and motivate.
  • Exceptional project management ability, including the ability to track against competing priorities.
  • Proven track record of driving organizational transformation with a focus on relationships and partnership.
  • Expertise as a manager of individuals and teams in a complex organizational environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills, with a commitment to respectful communication and collaboration.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a healthcare, research, or higher education environment.
  • Experience with marketing automation systems.
  • Experience with enterprise CRM/database systems.
  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • PMP or similar certification.
