About the position

The Director of Tax Strategy and Operations at GVW Group is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing all aspects of corporate and shareholder tax compliance and planning. The Director will provide expert guidance and management of tax matters for the organization and its affiliated companies across various sectors, including manufacturing, real estate, government contracts, and international transactions. The role involves evaluating financial structures and implementing tax-efficient strategies to ensure compliance and optimization of business operations. In this role, the Director will collaborate closely with the financial team to formulate comprehensive tax plans aimed at minimizing tax liabilities while ensuring legal compliance for both corporate entities and individual shareholders. Staying informed about changes in tax laws and regulations is crucial, as the Director will need to adjust strategies accordingly. The position also involves conducting thorough research on complex tax issues, analyzing financial data to identify potential tax opportunities, and educating personnel about tax strategies and best practices through presentations and training sessions. Additionally, the Director will act as a resource for management, addressing tax-related inquiries and collaborating with external tax professionals to ensure accurate and timely tax filings. Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough research on complex tax issues and offer well-informed recommendations.
  • Analyze financial data to identify potential tax issues and opportunities for optimization.
  • Educate personnel about tax strategies, responsibilities, and best practices through presentations and training sessions.
  • Act as a go-to resource for management, addressing tax-related inquiries and clarifying tax matters.
  • Assist the organization in understanding tax compliance requirements and deadlines.
  • Collaborate with external tax professionals to ensure accurate and timely tax filings.
  • Review tax-related documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Maintain detailed records of tax-related interactions and guidance provided to the organization.
  • Handle tax compliance for federal, state, and local income taxes, payroll taxes, excise taxes, and sales and use taxes.
  • Participate in marketing, networking, and business development within relevant business functions.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable authorities while minimizing tax and reporting burdens.
  • Conduct top-level review of tax returns and resolve tax issues.
  • Plan and oversee the tax process, including budgeting, staffing, monitoring, and timely billing.
  • Introduce and develop new ideas to improve outcomes.
  • Review studies of tax implications and offer alternative courses of action.
  • Manage special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; a Master's degree in taxation or relevant certification (e.g., Enrolled Agent, Certified Public Accountant) is preferred.
  • Profound knowledge of tax laws, regulations, and tax planning strategies applicable to various sectors.
  • Experience in a privately held single tax company is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with tax planning and compliance software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Team player capable of providing expertise to various business sectors within the organization.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in corporate tax accounting.
