About the position

The Executive Director of the Giovanni Armenise Harvard Foundation is responsible for directing and developing the programmatic and operational strategy of the Foundation. This role involves overseeing staff management, public relations, budgeting, finance, and development efforts to ensure the Foundation's mission and strategic priorities are met.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and develop the programmatic and operational strategy for the Giovanni Armenise Harvard Foundation.
  • Oversee program hiring and reappointments.
  • Manage all staff-related HR concerns.
  • Maintain strong relationships with the Foundation's original donor family.
  • Collaborate with the Dean and scientific leadership of HMS and Italian scientific leadership to build the Foundation's strategy.
  • Design, implement, and maintain scientific programs and activities, promoting them in the U.S. and abroad.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of all communications strategy.
  • Promote the Armenise Foundation and engage in partnerships to advance its mission.
  • Manage the Foundation's approximately $3.5M annual budget and report financial activities to the Board of Trustees.
  • Develop and monitor budgets aligned with strategic priorities for long-term sustainability.
  • Develop financial plans and projections for research activity administration.
  • Oversee and manage conferences and events communications.
  • Focus on fundraising in partnership with the HMS Alumni Affairs and Development office.
  • Identify and meet with potential donors and develop opportunities for funding.
  • Supervise a team of 3 direct reports and manage remote working relationships.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required.
  • 8+ years of administrative management experience.
  • Supervisory experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience in designing, implementing, and promoting innovative programs in an academic biomedical setting.
  • Ability to speak Italian is desirable.
  • Knowledge of Italian academia, particularly in science, is highly desirable.
