About the position

The Area Director of Therapy Operations is responsible for overseeing therapy operations at assigned hospitals, ensuring high-quality and cost-effective patient care. This role involves managing therapy personnel, developing and implementing departmental projects, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The position integrates company values into daily practice and plays a crucial role in enhancing patient outcomes through collaboration with senior leadership and interdepartmental teams.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, maintains, and implements therapy policies and procedures that direct the functions of the therapy department.
  • Oversees therapy department staffing, retention, and development, participating in coaching, discipline, and performance evaluations.
  • Provides education, direction, and mentorship to the therapy team regarding their function, purpose, and goals.
  • Prepares annual capital and operating budget for the therapy department and monitors expenses.
  • Works with management staff of third-party payers on problems, solutions, and new programs.
  • Collaborates with senior leadership and participates in performance improvement processes.
  • Monitors patient outcomes and assists with admission decisions.
  • Develops and implements specialized patient programs in collaboration with physicians and community agencies.
  • Assists with direct patient care therapy responsibilities during high flow work times.

Requirements

  • Current licensure as a Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, or Speech Language Pathologist is required.
  • Minimum of three years' experience in a hospital therapy management level position is required.
  • Two years' experience in a therapy management role preferred.
  • Master's degree or working towards completion strongly preferred.
  • Current CPR Certification is required.
  • Must maintain an acceptable driving record, current driver's license, and insurability.
