About the position

The Director of Total Rewards at Tutor Perini Corporation is responsible for creating and managing comprehensive compensation and benefits programs that attract, motivate, and retain top talent. This role involves developing a total rewards philosophy aligned with the company's culture and strategic goals, overseeing performance management systems, ensuring compliance with compensation regulations, and implementing advanced analytics for compensation metrics.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive total rewards philosophy that aligns with company culture and strategic goals.
  • Conduct in-depth market analysis using compensation benchmarking sources.
  • Design complex compensation frameworks including base salary structures, short-term and long-term incentive variable pay plans, executive compensation programs, and performance-based variable pay strategies.
  • Create pay equity analysis and recommendations.
  • Develop job architecture and career progression frameworks.
  • Collaborate with HR and leadership to develop performance management frameworks that align with total rewards strategy.
  • Oversee the performance management system, including goal setting, performance reviews, and feedback processes.
  • Ensure performance expectations are clearly communicated and aligned with organizational goals.
  • Collaborate with broader HR, Talent Acquisition, and finance departments to ensure compliance with federal and state compensation regulations.
  • Maintain expertise in ERISA guidelines, IRS compensation regulations, Equal Pay Act requirements, and ACA compliance.
  • Develop compelling total rewards communication strategies and create personalized total compensation statements.
  • Implement feedback mechanisms for rewards programs and employee education programs about compensation and benefits.
  • Implement and optimize total rewards management technologies and develop advanced analytics dashboards for compensation and benefits metrics.

Requirements

  • Master's degree preferred in Human Resources, Business Administration, or Compensation Management.
  • Minimum 10 years total rewards experience and blend of other HR functional experience.
  • Proven track record in multi-business unit compensation strategy.
  • Experience in organizations with 1000+ employees.
  • Demonstrated success in cost-effective rewards design.
  • Some public company work experience required.
  • Preferred experience in commercial construction or related industrials verticals.
  • Preferred experience at the Corporate COE level in a complex, multi-state, multi-unit environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced certifications such as Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) or SHRM-SCP.
  • Experience with Workday modules: Compensation, Advanced Compensation, Talent Management, Benefits.
  • Proficiency in compensation management software (CompAnalyst or other).
