About the position

The Director of Training, Recruitment and Development at Boston Medical Center (BMC) is responsible for establishing the vision and direction of the Public Safety Department. This role focuses on enhancing safety and security for staff, patients, and visitors by developing training programs, overseeing recruitment and retention efforts, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. The director will collaborate with various departments to improve public safety services and will play a key role in strategic planning and quality assurance within the department.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and oversee Public Safety Training, Recruitment, Development and Technology programs and contracted services.
  • Collaborate with the director of Emergency Management and the Office of Parking and Transportation Services.
  • Work with senior leaders to develop response plans and assess risk.
  • Review, edit, and develop Standing Operating Procedures (SOP) for Public Safety Operations.
  • Facilitate effective recruitment and retention programs for a diverse workforce.
  • Continuously assess and improve department training programs and operational plans.
  • Conduct quality improvement assessments of public safety efficacy and effectiveness.
  • Participate in disaster response plans and threat assessments.
  • Oversee regulatory compliance processes impacting security and parking services.
  • Ensure financial accountability of department operations within approved budgets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Criminal Justice, Management or related field.
  • Five or more years of leadership experience in healthcare security and/or law enforcement.
  • Experience developing and delivering effective training programs.
  • Possess and maintain a valid Massachusetts driver's license.

Nice-to-haves

  • Past or present law enforcement or healthcare security experience.
  • Knowledge of Healthcare security practices and principles.
  • Certification in incident command system.
