About the position

The Director of Transient Sales at The Charles Hotel is responsible for overseeing the hotel's transient sales operations, aiming to achieve optimal occupancy and average daily rate (ADR) growth to maximize total revenue while meeting or exceeding profit objectives. This role involves managing the sales and marketing budget, forecasting, and developing business plans, while also engaging in proactive sales activities and maintaining strong community visibility.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all transient sales solicitations and bookings to maximize overall revenue.
  • Assist in developing, recommending, implementing, and managing the division's annual budget and marketing plans.
  • Conduct outside sales calls, sales tours, and entertain clients.
  • Negotiate contract terms and understand their content.
  • Develop and maintain market awareness to predict revenue opportunities and set proactive strategies.
  • Monitor production of all top accounts and evaluate market trends.
  • Train hotel staff on recognizing and capitalizing on sales opportunities.
  • Maintain strong visibility in local community and industry organizations.
  • Attend and conduct meetings and training sessions as required by management.
  • Perform any other duties as requested by management.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of progressive hotel sales experience or a relevant degree with related experience.
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills for negotiation and persuasion.
  • Thorough experience with professional selling skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and strategic vision for sales deployment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products and general computer knowledge.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong organization and presentation skills.
  • Ability to interact with diverse backgrounds and solve complex problems.
  • Advanced knowledge of sales/marketing/hospitality principles and practices.
  • Ability to maintain composure under pressure and work with financial data.
