About the position

The Director of Video Strategy and Production at Indiana University is a leadership role responsible for shaping and executing a comprehensive video strategy that aligns with the university's content strategy and branding efforts. This position oversees the video team, manages the production cycle, and ensures the delivery of high-quality video content that supports marketing and communications initiatives. The director will also mentor staff, manage budgets, and collaborate with various departments to enhance the university's visibility and engagement through effective video storytelling.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a comprehensive video strategy to support marketing and communications priorities.
  • Supervise the entire content production cycle, including scriptwriting and equipment selection.
  • Manage and optimize the workflow of videographers and video producers.
  • Ensure successful delivery of video assets that meet project and platform needs.
  • Mentor and guide videographers to enhance video production quality and efficiency.
  • Oversee the maintenance and archiving of production files and track expenses.
  • Research and recommend new technology to strengthen video operations.
  • Establish metrics for measuring the success of video projects and innovate new formats.
  • Manage relationships with freelancers and vendors for quality outcomes.
  • Direct and produce video content while assessing its value and ROI.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, English, public relations, or related field.
  • 5 years of experience in a relevant field.
  • 3 years of management experience in a relevant field.
  • Proficient communication skills and professionalism.
  • Demonstrated time management and priority setting skills.
  • Excellent organizational and collaboration skills.
  • Effective coaching and feedback delivery skills.
  • Strong leadership and decision-making abilities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in broadcast media or related field.
  • Experience creating branded videos that encourage sharing and engagement.
  • Experience in large and small-scale video production.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and After Effects.
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of animation and storytelling techniques.
