About the position

The Director of Women's Ice Hockey Operations at Dartmouth College is a pivotal role that oversees all administrative functions of the Women's Ice Hockey Office. This position is responsible for managing the flow and exchange of information within the department, streamlining interactions with key constituents, and driving essential initiatives on behalf of the head Women's Ice Hockey coach. The director will assume a wide variety of administrative responsibilities that require independent judgment and decision-making in accordance with College and Athletic Department guidelines. This role is crucial for ensuring the smooth operation of the program and supporting the overall mission of the athletics department. In this position, the director will be expected to work effectively with a diverse range of constituents, including students, parents, faculty, staff, alumni, and other important program supporters. The ability to exercise judgment, maintain confidentiality, and handle sensitive situations with discretion is essential. The director will also need to demonstrate strong organizational and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. The role requires a commitment to diversity and an understanding of the needs of a diverse population. The position also entails evening and weekend hours, as well as travel for away games and attendance at home games. Strong computer skills are necessary to manage the various administrative tasks associated with the role. The director will play a key role in supporting the head coach and ensuring that the Women's Ice Hockey program operates efficiently and effectively.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree plus 3-5 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse range of constituents.
  • Ability to exercise judgment, confidentiality, and discretion in sensitive situations.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong computer skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in intercollegiate athletics, preferably coaching and/or playing Division I hockey.
