About the position

The Director of the Office of Information Technology and Data Services serves as the Chief Technology Officer for the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). This executive role is responsible for managing and overseeing the agency's IT resources, ensuring alignment with FHWA and Departmental missions, and advocating for innovative technology solutions to enhance operational efficiency. The Director supports the DOT Chief Information Officer and plays a crucial role in improving access to FHWA data and information, while also leading initiatives for system enhancements and compliance with relevant regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee records management, Agency Directives, Freedom of Information Act compliance, Section 508 Compliance, and FHWA Policy Guidance Center.
  • Advocate for FHWA and Department-wide system enhancements and promote the use of IT solutions to improve operations and mission delivery.
  • Provide leadership in planning, designing, developing, and implementing systems to meet FHWA and Department objectives.
  • Participate in DOT, Federal, and non-governmental IT committees related to IT solutions, policy, and planning.
  • Support the DOT Chief Information Officer and FHWA senior leadership on holistic technology management.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must have a Secret clearance.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and executing a modern, secure, and scalable IT strategy for a national agency.
  • Experience in Data Governance, Data Management, and Data Visualization techniques for a multi-disciplinary organization.
  • Experience in records management and issuance of agency policy directives.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with connected vehicle technologies and complex financial systems.
  • Knowledge of federal IT policies and regulations.
