About the position

The Director, Office of the Vice President Operations at George Washington University plays a crucial role in coordinating the university's alumni and fundraising efforts. This position is responsible for managing high-level communications and logistics related to donor engagement, supporting the Vice President in project management, and ensuring effective collaboration with key university offices. The Director must demonstrate strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while maintaining confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees leadership travel for DAR, prioritizing donors and prospects for visits with the Executive Director and Principal Gifts team.
  • Plans presidential salon dinners in key markets, collaborating with colleagues in DAR and University Events.
  • Manages the Project Coordinator, Office of the Vice President, overseeing the leadership request, scheduling, and briefing process.
  • Reviews and writes briefing materials for meetings with the President, Provost, and Vice President.
  • Acts as DAR's secondary liaison to the Office of the President, Office of the Provost, and Office of the Board of Trustees.
  • Drafts and edits written communications on behalf of the President and Vice President.
  • Supports the Vice President by providing project management for her portfolio of donors and prospects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 8 years of relevant professional experience, or a Master's degree or higher in a relevant area of study plus 6 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and project management skills with the ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to handle crisis situations and perform well under pressure.
  • High level of discretion and professional demeanor.
  • High level of proficiency in key components of Microsoft Office suite.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in increasingly responsible development/alumni positions.
  • Prior GW work experience is desirable.
