About the position

The Director, Oil & Gas Downstream will oversee the development of process engineering deliverables, ensuring they align with project scope, are delivered on time and within budget, and meet quality standards. This role involves developing solutions across various systems and liaising with other disciplines to maintain the process intent throughout the design life.

Responsibilities

  • Execute technical feasibility studies, conceptual design, and process design and studies.
  • Collaborate with project team to achieve project objectives and interface with other departments, project managers, engineers, clients, and vendors during all phases of projects.
  • Manage study and project management with direct responsibility for meeting quality, schedule, and cost requirements.
  • Interface with clients through progress meetings, presentations, and site visits.
  • Perform most assignments independently, receiving technical guidance from the Process Manager on complex problems.
  • Manage the process team, including hiring, career management, and resource management in coordination with global process leaders.
  • Provide technical management and supervision of engineers performing process and multi-discipline studies.
  • Participate and/or lead the development and maintenance of expertise in specific areas.
  • Assist less experienced process engineers in developing their process engineering skills.
  • Act as Process lead on projects, responsible for developing and reviewing all standard process engineering deliverables throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of professional experience in the Downstream oil and gas onshore sector, ideally with consultancy organizations executing conceptual, FEED, PMC, and EPCM scopes.
  • Degree in Chemical Engineering or Process Engineering from a recognized University.
  • Professional Engineering license is preferred.
  • Experience with technical studies, FEED process, and systems design including piping and instrument diagrams, cause and effect diagrams, and hazard and operability design reviews.
  • Working knowledge of detailed design project execution for oil & gas, chemical, and/or power industry clients.
  • Knowledge of federal/provincial safety policies and procedures along with understanding of International and Canadian American codes and standards.
  • Highly numerate with knowledge of company and international codes and standards, including API, ISO, ASME, ISA, Shell DEPs, BP GPs.
  • Experience in industry standard software such as HYSYS, Unisim, Flare System Analyzer, Pipesim, Phast, Flaresim.
  • Experience in onshore gas processing and technical process safety studies for oil and gas production facilities.
  • Experience in energy transition scopes including hydrogen, CCUS, decarbonization, and biofuels.
  • A keen interest in emission reductions and energy transition with a willingness to expand expertise.
  • Proven client relationship management and business development skills.
  • Experience in preparation of technical and economical proposals for clients.
  • Experience in managing and executing feasibility studies, FEED, and EPCM engagements.

Nice-to-haves

  • A high degree of understanding of interdisciplinary dependencies related to the discipline would be an advantage.
