About the position

The Director of Operations Engineering at Flex is responsible for overseeing technical support and process development engineering functions within a manufacturing area. This role involves planning and implementing new process formulas, establishing equipment specifications, and ensuring compatibility between processes and product designs. The Director will lead efforts to enhance cost-effectiveness and product quality while managing a team of engineering leaders and collaborating with other functional leaders to integrate manufacturing engineering activities with operations.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee technical support and process development engineering functions in manufacturing.
  • Plan and implement the development of new and scale-up process formulas.
  • Establish operating equipment specifications and ensure compatibility with product designs.
  • Lead efforts to achieve cost effectiveness and improved product quality.
  • Direct and control activities of senior Manufacturing & Product engineering leaders.
  • Organize and lead Project/Program reviews to ensure timely project delivery.
  • Partner with functional leaders to integrate manufacturing engineering with operations.
  • Provide guidance and feedback to subordinate leaders to achieve goals.
  • Plan, budget, and manage Manufacturing Engineering group costs.
  • Implement HR strategies to recruit and retain a qualified workforce.
  • Develop and modify company policies affecting operations.
  • Interact with executives and major customers in contract negotiations and OEE commitments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Electrical, Chemical, Industrial, or related field).
  • 8 years of experience in a similar position.
  • Experience in the medical devices industry, ISO 13485, FDA, CGMP, and Pharmaceutical Clean Room.
  • Strong business skills and people management capabilities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across different organizational levels.
  • Extensive implementation of TPM across multisite operations.
  • Experience with corrective, preventive, and predictive maintenance systems.
  • Background in manufacturing engineering, maintenance, and reliability.

Nice-to-haves

  • Multisite management experience.
  • Business excellence knowledge.
  • Lean Manufacturing experience.
  • Six Sigma Green/Black Belt certification preferred.
  • Previous experience in the automotive industry.
  • A Master's or MBA degree is preferred.
