About the position

The Director, Operations is a pivotal role responsible for the comprehensive planning and execution of middle office operations within Mansfield Oil. This position is crucial for ensuring that the company's operational objectives are met, with success measured through various performance metrics such as OKR execution, Lift to Turn (L2T), Credit/Rebill processes, departmental expense management, staffing levels, technology enablement, process improvement, and overall employee engagement scores. The Director will lead and manage the relationships between the Middle Office (Billing), Front Office, and Back Office, ensuring effective collaboration across teams to deliver a best-in-class customer experience. In this role, the Director will be tasked with coaching and mentoring staff, developing clear goals that align with company objectives, and implementing strategies to enhance departmental leadership. This includes creating a vision for each team, utilizing OKRs to maintain focus on high performance, and continuously evaluating talent to ensure the right skills are in place. The Director will also be responsible for managing the P&L and budget, developing training plans, and collaborating with various departments to optimize processes and technology use. The Director, Operations will play a key role in maximizing productivity while minimizing costs, all while maintaining high standards of customer service. This position requires a hands-on approach to ensure accuracy and timeliness in operations, as well as strong communication skills to foster teamwork and collaboration across the organization. The ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously is essential, as is the capacity to develop innovative solutions to complex problems.

Responsibilities

  • Develop clear goals for staff each year that support company goals and objectives
  • Develop a coaching strategy for staff to achieve or exceed goals and objectives
  • Regularly review performance with staff
  • Help staff focus on what is within their control to achieve success
  • Celebrate success and quickly address performance issues in a constructive manner
  • Create positive accountability and follow-up to achieve goals
  • Partner with VP, Operations to develop meaningful Individual Development Plans
  • Develop clear vision, goals, and objectives through the use of OKRs for each individual team
  • Implement a strategy for departments to examine and improve key processes
  • Continuously evaluate talent and amend the talent level where necessary
  • Provide a regular feedback strategy for departments to evaluate results and make improvements
  • Identify, prioritize, and execute on projects aimed at Middle Office optimization
  • Leverage existing and/or new technologies to enable better execution toward business objectives
  • Develop clear departmental strategy to achieve measurable operational and financial goals
  • Manage P&L and budget to achieve strategic yearly financial goals
  • Develop and implement role-specific training plans
  • Collaborate with Business Applications and ERP Operations to identify ERP optimization opportunities
  • Collaborate with Business Analytics to develop metrics and dashboards
  • Coordinate team member scheduling and staffing to ensure excellent customer service
  • Model and encourage high standards of service among employees
  • Develop teamwork with other regional and corporate operation groups
  • Identify critical tasks for maintaining customer satisfaction and communicate with employees
  • Maximize productivity and minimize costs while maintaining high customer service standards

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of the fuel industry
  • Ten (10) years of leadership experience
  • Excellent Microsoft Office suite skills
  • Solid financial acumen and excellent communication skills
  • Ability to develop a clear vision
  • Willingness to get actively involved in day-to-day actions
  • Strong organizational and verbal/written communication skills
