About the position

The Director of Operations at KeHE is responsible for overseeing warehousing, distribution, and transportation activities within the distribution center. This role involves implementing operational policies and procedures to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations while meeting customer service expectations. The Director will also maintain compliance with health and sanitation standards and protect company assets.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, direct, organize, and control warehousing, distribution, and transportation activities.
  • Implement company operating policies, procedures, and processes for efficient facility operations.
  • Maintain the distribution center in accordance with health and sanitation standards and OSHA requirements.
  • Protect and maintain company assets including inventory, facilities, and fleet.
  • Establish and maintain warehouse budgetary goals.
  • Organize production and procedures of warehouse operations.
  • Oversee and execute inventory control procedures to safeguard physical inventory.
  • Provide leadership, training, and development for warehouse supervisors.
  • Conduct performance reviews and manage overtime in accordance with company policies.
  • Instill professionalism and pride in co-workers and warehouse personnel through daily communication.
  • Interface with management of the public warehouse.
  • Maintain and recommend new equipment and facility capital expenditures.
  • Ensure quality service and product delivery to customers.
  • Develop and maintain inventory shrinkage and shortage level goals.
  • Oversee facility security and safety programs.
  • Maintain an efficient production schedule for timely truck departures.
  • Coordinate outside purchases of warehouse materials and supplies.
  • Interact with customers to resolve order discrepancies and ensure quality service.
  • Establish effective communication with all KEHE departments.
  • Develop and maintain cost control and productivity procedures.
  • Maximize facility productivity and utilization.
  • Maintain effective stock rotation and warehouse space utilization.
  • Ensure good attendance and safe work practices.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 10 years prior warehouse/distribution experience.
  • At least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Bachelor's Degree highly preferred.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and write in English.
  • Previous experience operating a forklift and knowledge of security systems.
  • Proficiency in MS Office required.
  • Ability to work varied shifts and schedules as required.
