About the position

The Cardiothoracic Surgery Department at Staten Island University Hospital is seeking a dedicated leader to direct, plan, and organize the staff and operations related to materials management, service contracts, building management, and end-user interface for the Center. This role is pivotal in developing, implementing, and overseeing warehousing and receiving logistics processes, ensuring that the Center operates efficiently and effectively. The successful candidate will lead an Operations group, fostering communication and development among staff members while building consensus for programs and goals that align with the business's objectives. In this position, you will be responsible for maintaining a comprehensive knowledge of service contracts to develop strategies for standardization and cost savings. You will analyze material costs and propose cost-saving solutions to Corporate Procurement. Additionally, you will identify appropriate equipment and supply inventory levels, establish par levels, and oversee processes to ensure timely maintenance. Your role will also involve overseeing warehousing and receiving logistics processes, including the management of the loading dock, mailroom, and storage areas, as well as overseeing parking and valet services for the Center. As the end-user interface for physicians, administrative, and support personnel, you will ensure that operational concerns are continuously identified and addressed. You will develop and monitor strategic operating goals, objectives, and budgets, reporting on operational performance and justifying corrective actions when necessary. Participation in new construction projects related to operational issues will also be a key aspect of your role, as you develop and implement operations-related programs to enhance patient and employee satisfaction. Building productive inter/intra departmental relationships with clinical, administrative, and vendor teams will be essential to optimizing materials management operations. You will select, develop, manage, and evaluate direct reports while overseeing the selection and development of indirect reports. Compliance with government and agency regulations will be a critical responsibility, ensuring that all operations adhere to necessary standards. This position encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, all of which are considered essential functions under the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Responsibilities

  • Direct, plan, and organize staff and operations related to materials management, service contracts, building management, and end-user interface for the Center.
  • Lead an Operations group by communicating with and developing staff members, building consensus for programs and goals.
  • Develop and articulate a short-term strategic vision for areas of responsibility.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of service contracts to develop strategies for standardization and cost savings.
  • Analyze material costs and offer cost-saving solutions to Corporate Procurement.
  • Identify appropriate equipment/supply inventory levels and establish par levels.
  • Oversee processes to ensure timely maintenance of equipment and supplies.
  • Develop, implement, and oversee warehousing and receiving logistics processes.
  • Oversee parking and valet services for the Center.
  • Function as end-user interface for physicians and administrative personnel to address operational concerns.
  • Develop and monitor strategic operating goals, objectives, and budget; report on operational performance and corrective actions.
  • Participate in new construction projects related to operational issues.
  • Develop and implement operations-related programs to enhance patient and employee satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • 8-12 years of relevant experience required.
  • 7+ years of leadership/management experience required.
  • Prior clinical background strongly preferred (RN, NP, NA, etc.).
  • Prior inpatient surgery experience preferred.

Benefits

  • Salary range of $98,300-$170,100/year based on experience and qualifications.
