About the position

The Director of Paralegal Services at State Farm is responsible for leading the Paralegal Services team within the Corporate Law Division. This role involves strategic guidance in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of paralegal and legal technician utilization. The position requires strong leadership, communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders. The Director will oversee the selection, training, and performance management of paralegals, ensuring alignment with enterprise objectives and fostering a culture of diversity and inclusion.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, planning, and direction for Paralegal Services to meet established goals.
  • Establish vision, strategies, and goals for paralegal services in alignment with enterprise objectives.
  • Oversee selection, training, counseling, career development, and performance evaluations for paralegal personnel.
  • Champion an environment that fosters diversity, innovation, and employee engagement.
  • Identify and implement efficiencies to support the Law Department.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to analyze needs and convert them into actionable items.
  • Ensure compliance with enterprise and department policies and procedures.
  • Manage the operating budget for assigned functions and control expenses.

Requirements

  • Advanced understanding of the Law Department's structure and paralegal role.
  • Strong knowledge of company operations and related industry issues.
  • Ability to translate enterprise vision into operational plans for paralegal resources.
  • Experience in staffing, onboarding, training, and performance management in a legal context.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with leadership and address strategic opportunities.
