About the position

The Director, Partner Success, is a pivotal role within the Aspen Institute's Creative Services team, responsible for developing work products and managing teams on behalf of the Institute's 70+ projects and programs. This position requires a dynamic leader who can effectively advise clients on strategic initiatives, oversee projects from inception to completion, and ensure exceptional customer service. The successful candidate will lead a team of in-house content creators and collaborate with trusted vendors to implement high-quality deliverables. Additionally, the director will contribute to business development efforts and work closely with the Communications and Marketing Team to ensure optimal service across various programs. In this role, the director will initiate each new project with a kickoff meeting, ensuring smooth implementation and timely delivery of all work products. Regular updates will be provided to clients through in-person or virtual check-ins, as well as through timely email and phone communication. The director will also collaborate with the Creative Services and Program Partnerships Director to develop business strategies, set annual goals, and grow revenue, while coordinating with the Sr. Operations Manager and Project Manager on contracting and invoicing for clients and vendors. As the lead member of each client team, the director will oversee the project manager and ensure seamless communication across all client-related activities. Building and maintaining strong relationships across Institute projects and programs is essential, as is staying informed about changes in staffing and work dynamics. The director will also coach and support the team to ensure high performance and quality outputs, while contributing to business development efforts by identifying client successes and leveraging them to create new opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop work products and manage teams for the Creative Services' clients.
  • Advise clients on strategic initiatives and provide regular updates through various communication channels.
  • Collaborate on business strategy and annual budget development with the Creative Services and Program Partnerships Director.
  • Coordinate with the Sr. Operations Manager and Project Manager on contracting and invoicing for clients and vendors.
  • Act as the lead member of each client team, overseeing project managers and ensuring exceptional client service.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships across Institute projects and programs, staying informed about staffing changes.
  • Communicate regularly with the Creative Services and Program Partnerships Director about project statuses, successes, and challenges.
  • Oversee the day-to-day work of project managers, content creators, and strategists, ensuring alignment with deliverables.
  • Coach and support the team to ensure high performance and quality outputs.
  • Collaborate in identifying client successes to create new business opportunities and contribute to proposals and case studies.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in communications and marketing, preferably at a full service firm or large nonprofit organization.
  • Proven experience in strategy development and implementation.
  • Strong client management skills with the ability to provide strategic guidance and regular project updates.
  • Experience in leading and managing a team of content creators and their respective deliverables.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with multiple teams and manage stakeholder engagement.
  • Knowledge of the latest trends in communications, including strategy, creative, and fundraising.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to contribute to business development efforts, including proposals, case studies, and pitch meetings.
