About the position

The Director, Planning and Logistics is a leadership role within the Supply Chain Management team at Merck Sharp & Dohme's manufacturing location in Durham, NC. This position is responsible for overseeing the Logistics and Planning teams, ensuring the reliable supply of products while promoting a culture of safety and quality. The Director will collaborate with various internal and external partners to optimize supply chain performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Logistics and Planning teams at the Durham site.
• Promote a proactive safety culture and participate in identifying hazards.
• Ensure compliance with cGMP and other business regulations.
• Manage inventory and planning to ensure reliable supply to customers.
• Act as a key liaison for global Supply Chain and network partners.
• Oversee S&OP processes and manage site logistics operations.
• Support annual budget development and financial stewardship.
• Coach and mentor team members for professional growth.
• Drive a culture of Continuous Improvement within the Supply Chain function.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, Business, Supply Chain Management or related disciplines.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in a regulated environment such as Supply Chain Management or Manufacturing Operations.
• Five years of people management experience.
• Proficiency with SAP and strong analytical skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

• Demonstrated ability to integrate materials management and ERP data knowledge with manufacturing operations.
