About the position

Rockwell Automation is seeking a Director to lead our Platform Automation and Developer Experience practice. This role is pivotal in enhancing the productivity and satisfaction of our developers by automating technology and compute platform components across various environments. The Director will collaborate with multiple development teams to architect, provision, monitor, and enrich development environments, ultimately aiming to improve the overall developer experience through effective platform automation. In this hands-on position, the Director will be responsible for building a dedicated team focused on automating all technology and compute platform components in both lower and production environments. This includes leading a diverse group of peers towards a unified solution framework and developing a strategy that enhances the developer experience organization-wide. The Director will ensure that stream/product aligned teams operate with substantial autonomy while fostering a culture of automation at the platform layers. The role requires a strong partnership with Rockwell's Development, Security, and Infrastructure teams to create a shared, self-service library of platform components and to establish repeatable CI/CD pipelines. The Director will also champion the automation of build and production support processes, ensuring observability in build chains and CI/CD pipelines. By establishing metrics to monitor platform products, the Director will measure developer satisfaction and productivity, advocating for developer-friendly practices and staying informed about the latest trends in developer tools and methodologies. This position reports directly to the VP of IT Infrastructure and Operations, and the successful candidate will be customer-obsessed, with a proven ability to gain the trust and cooperation of technical teams across the organization.
