About the position

The Director of Portfolio Marketing for Incontinence & Urology at Cardinal Health is a pivotal role that reports directly to the Vice President of Global Medical Products Marketing within the Medical Segment. This position is responsible for the comprehensive management of the product portfolio, which includes strategic planning, category product mix, product lifecycle management, and the development of new products. The director will create value propositions, manage branding efforts, and ensure that the portfolio meets financial targets such as revenue, margin, and SG&A. The focus will be on Incontinence and Urology products, which are critical to the company's offerings in the healthcare market. In this role, the director will lead a team of three employees and will be required to engage effectively with various cross-functional partners, including regional marketing, sourcing, finance, research and development, supply planning, and technical services. The director will provide leadership to managers and experienced professional staff, and may also oversee front-line supervisors. The ability to translate market and customer needs into clear goals, objectives, strategies, and tactics is essential for driving sales and profitability for the business. The director will be responsible for identifying market trends and understanding the implications for product and service lifecycles. This includes executing primary research (Voice of Customer) necessary for informed portfolio and product decisions, as well as identifying market opportunities through both VOC and secondary research. The role requires a strong financial acumen to make sound pricing, forecasting, and financial assessments, while also working collaboratively across various functional groups such as communications, operations, sales, and IT.

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership to managers and experienced professional staff and may also be required to manage front line supervisors.
  • Translates market and customer needs into clearly defined goals, objectives, strategies, and tactics to drive sales & profitability for the business.
  • Accountable for gaining and driving cross-functional support from all stakeholders.
  • Identifies and is well versed on market trends, determining product/service lifecycle implications and making recommendations to maintain market competitiveness.
  • Executes primary research (VOC) necessary to drive portfolio/product decisions and identifies market opportunities through VOC/secondary research.
  • Identifies the appropriate channels to market by understanding market trends and competitive positioning.
  • Uses financial acumen and logical decision making in the general business environment, demonstrating sound thought processes related to pricing, forecasting, and assessing financial implications.
  • Works effectively across cross-functional groups including communications, operations, sales, and IT.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's and advanced degree in related field, or equivalent work experience, preferred.
  • Healthcare experience preferably in medical products and devices.
  • Proven track record of managing and developing direct reports desired.
  • Strong ability to develop relationships internally and externally at all levels up to and including executives.
  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking, communication, negotiation and general business skills required.
  • Ability to initiate strategy discussions, execute projects and manage various marketing activities.
  • High enthusiasm, creativity and desire to work on an innovative team.
  • Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner and has a track record of making both monetary and strategic decisions.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
