About the position

The position involves overseeing high-risk loan activities within the Emerging Middle Market (EMM) line of business at BMO, focusing on companies with revenues between $10MM and $50MM. The role includes conducting quarterly reviews, managing loan meetings, analyzing portfolio data, and ensuring compliance with BMO policies. The ideal candidate will facilitate business development, maintain key client relationships, and provide strategic input to senior leaders while managing risks associated with a complex portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee high-risk loan activities within the EMM line of business.
  • Conduct quarterly reviews and high-risk loan meetings.
  • Analyze portfolio data to support compliance with BMO policies.
  • Facilitate growth initiatives through business development and client relationship management.
  • Ensure adherence to internal control standards and compliance policies.
  • Lead business development plans to achieve or exceed business goals.
  • Provide strategic input into business decisions as a trusted advisor.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on relevant regulations and policies.
  • Conduct independent analysis to resolve strategic issues.
  • Develop business cases by identifying needs and assessing expected ROI.
  • Coordinate management of databases to ensure data governance standards are met.
  • Lead change management programs including planning and execution.
  • Manage the risk of the assigned complex portfolio in a timely manner.
  • Directly manage the annual review process and interim reviews.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Act as daily sales contact for clients on sales-related questions.
  • Assist team in pre-sales activities and track implementation requests.
  • Compile pre-call and post-call information packages for client interactions.
  • Provide research and data gathering to facilitate client solutions.
  • Maintain current client information on Bank systems to ensure accuracy.
  • Ensure accurate billing to clients and track internal reports.

Requirements

  • Typically 7+ years of relevant experience and a post-secondary degree in a related field.
  • Demonstrated history of successful business development and networking in external markets.
  • Experience in contact negotiations with clients and legal counsel.
  • Experience drafting responses to complex RFPs.
  • In-depth knowledge of risk management, sales and service management, and relationship management.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven decision-making approach.

  • Experience managing deteriorating credits.

  • Ability to work with data to identify trends and support decisions.
