About the position

The role will lead the development of the Workflow and Request capability within RaDS IT and execute strategy for supporting the digital transformation of our scientific tools. This position offers the opportunity to work on high-profile applications that significantly impact how lab-based research is conducted, ultimately accelerating the introduction of innovative drugs to market. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of business and technical acumen, with a big-picture vision complemented by the ability to dive into the details. A key aspect of this role is the ability to comprehend scientific problems and translate those needs for the technical team while prioritizing tasks to ensure the introduction and ongoing enhancement of solutions. Success in this role will be measured by the acceptance and adoption of these new solutions by the scientists targeted for each release. The candidate will need to identify with the needs of our scientists and be a passionate advocate for their perspectives throughout all phases of product development. The position will be based in one of the specified locations, with occasional travel to other sites required.

Responsibilities

  • Managing the product life cycle for Workflow and Request from strategic planning to tactical activities.
  • Understanding the problem space and specifying requirements for current and future products through close partnership with research scientists and other stakeholders.
  • Aiding the adoption and change management planning.
  • Analyzing potential vendor partner relationships for the resultant solution(s).

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years relevant experience across the IT and life sciences space.
  • Significant demonstrable experience in or around the pharmaceutical industry sufficient to understand the underlying workflows and data management needs.
  • Experience in a Product management role with enthusiasm for the craft.
  • Well versed in Agile methodologies for software development and able to impart that knowledge to others.
  • Dedication to appreciating complex problems and tackling a diversity of subject matter with creative strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop strong, trust-based, collaborative relationships to drive change within a large, diverse organization.
  • Ability to prioritize work based on user need, business value, and return on investment.
  • Ability to quickly grasp new technological and scientific concepts and convey their value to clients and collaborators.
  • Experience in redesigning and improving internal business processes.
  • Ability to consider and manage change as a critical success factor for adoption.
  • Experience and comfort making build-or-buy decisions.
  • Ability to function in a geographically distributed, culturally diverse environment with both internal and external employees.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills to interact with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice-to-haves

  • Demonstrable knowledge of problems facing scientists working in a drug discovery lab, ideally from a lab-based background.
  • Experience in applying change management concepts in a cross-functional group.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with vendors to address business problems.
  • Familiarity with user-centered design and UX principles.
  • Pragmatic Institute Certification.
  • Familiarity with Cloud-based software and terms.
  • Experience with LIMS or other lab data capture informatics software.
  • Experience with Appian or other low-code development software.
  • Comprehension of laboratory processes and methods.
  • Comprehension of the Product Life Cycle of software products.
