About the position

The Director of Private Donor Services will lead a dedicated team focused on building and nurturing relationships with high-net-worth individuals and foundations interested in international philanthropy. This strategic leadership role involves overseeing two teams, developing client management strategies, and maximizing philanthropic impact through exceptional service and engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a strategic vision for private client relationship management within CAF America
  • Lead and mentor two team operation manager-level reports, each focused on a specific client audience with teams of up to 8 people
  • Oversee the development and implementation of personalized client service plans for premier clients
  • Foster strong relationships with donors, proactively understanding their philanthropic goals and interests
  • Provide expert guidance on international grantmaking strategies, navigating complex regulations and maximizing impact
  • Identify and build relationships with key partners in our space, including charitable giving strategies, domestic and international philanthropy, and charitable gift planning
  • Develop and deliver high-quality educational resources for donors on international philanthropy
  • Drive the growth of new and existing donor relationships including growing assets under management
  • Manage team performance, ensuring exceptional client service and exceeding donor expectations with a focus on skill-building and knowledge within the team
  • Collaborate with other departments, including finance, grants, compliance, business development and marketing, to ensure a seamless client experience

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in donor relations or philanthropy, with a focus on private client relationship management
  • Previous team leadership experience preferred - 3-5 years experience
  • CAP Certification (a plus or certification process supported by CAF America)
  • Proven track record of building and cultivating strong relationships with high-net-worth individuals
  • Deep understanding of international philanthropy, including grantmaking strategies, regulations, and cultural nuances
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in donor management software and CRM systems
  • A passion for international development and social impact
