About the position

The Director of Process Improvement & Operational Excellence (Data Governance/Informatics) is responsible for leading business process improvement initiatives that enhance operational efficiencies and increase customer satisfaction within Molina Healthcare. This role involves the development and implementation of MHI's business process improvement methodology, ensuring that the organization has a robust capability for continuous improvement. The director will define the program scope, establish an approach for implementation, and maintain the necessary program infrastructure to support these initiatives. In this position, the director will develop methods for assessing program effectiveness and create a cadence for ongoing evaluation and adjustment. Communication is key, and the director will determine the program's support needs and gain agreement on process improvement opportunities, assisting in the prioritization of approved initiatives and projects. Staying current with trends impacting Lean concepts, methodologies, and tools is essential to ensure that best practices are utilized in all process improvement efforts. Collaboration is a significant aspect of this role, as the director will coordinate with Molina's enterprise Operational Excellence team and health plan Operational Excellence teams to ensure alignment with organizational goals. The director will manage a portfolio of projects, educational programs, and coaching plans, developing managers and staff in lean principles through individual coaching, education, and project involvement. The role requires explaining and applying accepted methodologies, including identifying desired outcomes, analyzing current processes, collecting and analyzing relevant data, uncovering root causes, and developing performance improvement plans. Additionally, the director will establish and maintain an education and coaching approach for all staff levels, continuously evaluating training needs related to process improvement. This includes developing and maintaining necessary curriculum and supporting materials to educate staff and leaders. The director will also facilitate Lean improvement workshops in partnership with managers and deliver presentations to mentor and coach leadership and management staff, promoting awareness and engagement with Lean concepts and methodologies.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (Business Administration, Healthcare, Engineering, etc.).
  • 8 years of experience in healthcare.
  • 4 years of management level experience.
  • Understanding of all areas of health plan operations including claims processing, customer service, provider contracting, and more.
  • Knowledge of key revenue levers and cost drivers of business processes.
  • Experience designing and delivering solutions related to operational improvement functions.
  • Strong leadership qualities and ability to achieve results.

Nice-to-haves

  • Graduate Degree.
  • 6 years of healthcare-related process improvement experience with demonstrable successes in Lean/Six-Sigma application.
  • 10 years of process improvement experience.
  • Experience with Azure and SQL programming (read/write SQL).
  • Experience in process improvement for Data Governance and Healthcare Informatics.
  • LEAN certification and/or Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification.
  • CPHQ certification.
