About the position

The Director of Product Management for the Life Company at USAA plays a crucial role in shaping the strategic direction of the product roadmap for life insurance offerings. This position involves leading a high-performing team of product managers, overseeing product launches, and ensuring alignment with the company's vision. The director will leverage industry knowledge and market data to drive innovation and maximize product value for members, while also collaborating with internal stakeholders to deliver industry-leading products.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate and promote the product value proposition to the Distribution organization.
  • Ensure the product team delivers sales support to all distribution channels.
  • Develop new product or sales offerings and enhance existing features/services.
  • Lead research and analysis to evaluate performance metrics and drive recommendations.
  • Gather data and member information to support product strategy and competitive intelligence.
  • Partner with stakeholders to develop communications for product and pricing strategies.
  • Build and oversee a team through recruiting, development, retention, and performance management.
  • Interpret performance results to inform product or sales forecasting and planning.
  • Identify, measure, monitor, and control risks associated with business activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Supply Chain, Statistics, or related discipline, or 4 years of related experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.
  • 8 years of relevant industry experience in Actuary, Underwriting, Marketing, Distribution, Sales/Service, or Finance/Accounting Operations.
  • 4 years of product management or similar strategic management experience.
  • 3 years of direct team lead or management experience.
  • 3 years of Data Visualization experience (i.e. Tableau).
  • Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations (i.e. FDIC, CFPB, OCC).
  • Experience owning, forecasting, and managing a Product P&L.
  • Experience in market research to create product roadmap and make product decisions.

Nice-to-haves

  • US military experience through military service or as a military spouse/domestic partner.
  • 4 or more years of Life Insurance Industry Experience.
  • 6 years of progressive related experience developing strategies and managing major initiatives.
  • 6 years of people leadership experience in building and managing high-performing teams.
  • 4 years of proven experience leading change and optimizing member benefit and business performance.
  • 3 years of proven track record of partnering to set direction and plan for delivery of member and product production.
