About the position

The Oncology Data Science - Data, Analytics, and AI Platforms (ODSP) team at AstraZeneca is seeking a Senior Product Manager to lead critical biomarker development initiatives. This role focuses on advancing oncology data science by creating a strategic culture that values data as a business asset. The Product Manager will collaborate with internal customers to identify challenges, build a compelling product vision, and lead the product roadmap to ensure impactful solutions that improve patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Connect with internal customers to identify and formulate the problems to be solved.
• Create a compelling product vision and strategy to address complex business problems.
• Own the product roadmap to ensure value delivery in Minimum Viable Products (MVPs).
• Manage the entire product lifecycle, collaborating with engineers, scientists, and stakeholders to deliver the right products.
• Use data to drive decisions and business strategy, escalating technical needs when necessary.
• Represent the products and the team, communicating across organizations at various technical levels.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to explore innovative concepts and technologies for product incorporation.
• Contribute to ODSP's culture by celebrating diversity, taking risks, and accepting failures.
• Evangelize ODSP's accomplishments through targeted communications and participation in conferences.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in natural or engineering sciences.
• 5+ years managing technical products or equivalent experience in AI/ML development.
• Good understanding of ML/AI/DL techniques, preferably with hands-on experience.
• Record of accomplishment in innovation and developing strategic product ideas and plans.
• Experience driving an AI-based solution from idea to production.
• Ability to manage trade-off decisions between business opportunities and available resources.
• Experience in working with and developing junior colleagues.
• Highly collaborative with experience influencing and communicating cross-functionally with stakeholders.
• Understanding of R&D, data science, AI, informatics, records management, and system development in the biotech/pharma industry.
• Experience in requirements engineering following lean and agile principles.
• Experience in scrum.

Nice-to-haves

• 8+ years in science-based technical product management.
• Experience with AI data preparation techniques in Bioinformatics, ML frameworks, and tooling.
• Experience in applying AI technologies to products from idea to production.
• Knowledge in (immune) oncology and drug development processes.
• Clinical, diagnostic, or translational science operations experience.
• Experience with data and AI regulations in China.
• Experience in driving innovation events like hackathons.
