About the position

The Director of Product Marketing at Salesforce will be instrumental in shaping the market perception of Heroku. This leadership role involves developing thought leadership messaging, managing editorial content, and enhancing executive communications to elevate Heroku's presence in various market categories. The position requires collaboration with executive leadership, product management, and customers to create compelling narratives that resonate with target audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Define the strategy and narrative for thought leadership for Heroku.
  • Develop a thematic editorial calendar with thought leadership content to increase awareness of Heroku.
  • Support Heroku executives in building their profiles through media placements and speaking opportunities.
  • Develop a strategic paid media strategy for sponsored content featuring key spokespeople.
  • Collaborate with PR and AR teams to execute strategies for earned media coverage.
  • Establish and run a speaker bureau program within Heroku employees.
  • Track and analyze performance and ROI of thought leadership programs.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in product or solutions marketing, communications, journalism, or as an industry analyst.
  • Experience with developer and IT Executive audiences and knowledge of cloud native, open source, Kubernetes, and developer tool ecosystems.
  • Ability to strategize and craft compelling narratives with strong storytelling skills.
  • Experience in defining strategy and coaching teams through execution.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to present to executive leaders and cross-functional partners.
  • Expertise in building strong working relationships with cross-functional teams and aligning with global stakeholders.
  • Experience in building scalable programs and driving cross-functional alignment.
  • Self-starter with a builder's mindset.
