About the position

The Director, Claims Production Support is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing the Claims Platform to ensure peak application performance and maximum uptime. This position entails direct management of people, processes, software standards, and information technology assets that comprise the practice and support the Enterprise. The Director will be accountable for meeting service level agreements (SLA) and key performance indicator (KPI) targets for the department. This role requires collaboration with various stakeholders including Customers, Product, Architecture, Security, Risk Management, and other Delivery departments to achieve these outcomes. In this capacity, the Director will design and implement processes and procedures that equip a team of technical resources with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively monitor all applications within the Claims platform, aiming to maximize system uptime. The role also involves identifying areas for optimization and working across teams to implement improvements. Additionally, the Director will support yearly Disaster Recovery (DR) exercises, including onsite participation, and will collaborate with teams to troubleshoot and resolve complex incidents, minimizing operational impact. Leadership is a key component of this role, as the Director will lead, influence, and manage a team of resources, which includes conducting talent acquisition activities, coaching and mentoring, identifying training requirements for associates, and overall performance management. The Director will determine the appropriate staffing mix of contractors and associates to maintain steady work while staying within budget. Furthermore, the Director will assist in defining departmental strategic objectives and drive business outcomes in alignment with the organizational strategy. Accountability for incident response and problem resolution within the claims platform is also a critical aspect of this role, along with designing and implementing strategies to proactively mitigate system disruptions and driving initiatives that contribute to long-term operational excellence.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Advanced knowledge of mainframe technologies including z/OS, COBOL, DB2, IMS and JCL
  • Advanced knowledge of mainframe security practices and protocols to safeguard data and systems
  • Expert understanding of tools and techniques to monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues
  • Expert ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences across all levels
  • Expert ability to lead and motivate a team, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment
  • Expert ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, build strong relationships, and drive alignment on shared objectives
  • Competent in Cloud concepts and Cloud hosting requirements
  • Expert analytical and problem-solving skills
  • 8 years related technical experience
  • 5 years of experience managing a team of technical resources
  • 2 years of experience managing mainframe applications and or mainframe production support teams
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business, Information Systems, or a related field or equivalent work experience
