About the position

The Director, Program Management Office (PMO) at Progress Rail is responsible for overseeing program management within the Locomotive Division. This role requires a deep understanding of program management fundamentals, including the gate process, reporting, resource planning, and manufacturing. The Director will ensure that locomotive and modernization programs meet financial targets and schedules, while also developing standardized processes and engaging with customers on project statuses.

Responsibilities

  • Developing standardized program processes for delivering project objectives
  • Implementing reporting processes that incorporate cross-functional metrics
  • Building a competency model and training program for the department
  • Coordinating with cross-functional teams to implement processes across departments
  • Engaging with customers as an escalation point on project status and updates
  • Working with inquiry and sales to ensure proposals and contracts align with project objectives
  • Using problem-solving skills to resolve cross-functional challenges related to program deliverables
  • Traveling as required

Requirements

  • A college or university degree in engineering or business or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 13 to 15 years of progressively responsible job-related experience
  • Thorough knowledge of locomotive products and product applications
  • Demonstrated strong technical aptitude and creativity
  • Well-developed human relations skills
  • Demonstrated negotiation and facilitation skills
  • PMP certification or knowledge of program management skills
