About the position

Carlow University's School of Nursing, Graduate Nursing Department seeks an experienced educator to assume the faculty role and Director of the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Program. The program will admit its first students in Fall 2024, pending final approval. This is an exceptional opportunity to work with seasoned academic leaders in Nursing to shape the program and create an outstanding educational degree offering in this high-need and in-demand specialty. The Director will also teach and mentor faculty in the PMHNP Program. This is a full-time, tenure-track position (9-month + summer stipend) located on the Oakland campus in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Position to begin on January 8, 2024. Academic rank and salary are commensurate with educational preparation and experience. The Program Director will have primary responsibility for directing the inaugural Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) program, with additional duties of teaching, service, and scholarship. Primary teaching responsibilities will focus on the graduate PMHNP program's significant courses.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the inaugural Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) program.
  • Teach significant courses in the graduate PMHNP program.
  • Mentor faculty in the PMHNP Program.
  • Engage in service and scholarship activities.

Requirements

  • Doctorate (DNP, PhD, EdD, or another related degree) and a master's degree in nursing.
  • Eligibility for Pennsylvania State Professional Nurse licensure as a certified registered nurse practitioner.
  • Hold prescriptive authority and national certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.
  • Three years of teaching experience in a PMHNP program or related experience.
  • Minimum five years of clinical experience in the PMHNP role with evidence of current practice.
  • Evidence of or potential for an active program of scholarship/research.
  • Strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusiveness.
