About the position

The Public Affairs Director at the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB) is responsible for developing and managing a comprehensive public affairs strategy that integrates various media campaigns to enhance awareness and engagement with key stakeholders, including the media and the public. This role involves serving as an executive speechwriter and strategic communicator for the CEO and senior leadership, ensuring effective communication and representation of NICB's mission to combat insurance fraud and crime.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead a comprehensive public affairs strategy aligned with NICB's strategic goals.
  • Research and create executive communications, including speeches and presentations.
  • Build and maintain relationships with media outlets and coordinate public affairs initiatives.
  • Develop digital and social media campaigns to ensure consistent messaging.
  • Establish metrics to assess the effectiveness of public affairs and provide regular reports to leadership.
  • Lead and mentor the Public Affairs team, fostering collaboration and innovation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or related field.
  • Minimum 8-10 years' experience in public affairs or media relations strategies.
  • Executive speechwriting and management experience required.
  • Solid strategic thinking and analytical abilities.
  • Excellent speechwriting and communications skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of the insurance industry is a plus.
