About the position

The Director, Public Sector Partnerships at Viamo plays a crucial role in leading the business development process aimed at securing U.S. Government funding across various technical sectors. This position is pivotal in identifying and tracking opportunities, conducting outreach to potential partners and clients, negotiating teaming agreements, and overseeing the development of proposals and budgets. The Director will be the primary representative for Viamo in the Washington DC area, where they will engage with stakeholders to promote the organization's mission of connecting individuals and organizations through mobile technology. In this role, the Director will utilize both formal and informal channels to gather information on potential upcoming U.S. Government funding opportunities. They will maintain an opportunity tracking system to monitor the evolution of these opportunities over time. A significant aspect of the role involves planning and executing a continuous outreach program to potential partners and clients, effectively marketing Viamo's products and services in relation to specific opportunities. The Director will also be responsible for negotiating pre-teaming and teaming agreements with partners, ensuring clarity on contract types, technical scopes, and resource levels. Additionally, they will lead the development of high-quality technical and cost proposals that align with partner needs, contributing to Viamo's overall business strategy by co-leading the establishment of Key Performance Indicator targets and strategies for their areas of responsibility. The success of the Director will be measured by the value of proposal submissions and awards, the number of new partnerships with USAID prime contractors and grantees, and the establishment of viable U.S. Government partnerships beyond USAID.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and track potential U.S. Government funding opportunities using formal and informal channels.
  • Maintain opportunity tracking systems and monitor the evolution of opportunities over time.
  • Plan and conduct outreach programs to potential partners and clients, marketing Viamo's products and services.
  • Negotiate pre-teaming and teaming agreements with partners for specific opportunities.
  • Lead the development of timely and high-quality technical and cost proposals that respond to partner needs.
  • Contribute to Viamo's business strategy by co-leading the development of Key Performance Indicator targets and strategies.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in management and/or business development for U.S. Government and donor-funded development programs, preferably in health, economic development, and education.
  • Demonstrated success in business development, including the development of winning proposals and leadership of effective consortia and teams.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a broad network of contacts in U.S. Government-funded development.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English; professional proficiency in additional languages is preferred.
  • Experience working in developing countries is preferred.
  • Excellent problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated self-management and entrepreneurial skills; adaptability and resourcefulness.
